Welcome to THE MARKETPLACE, open every Tuesday evening 4 – 8 p.m., from May 20, 2014 through September 16, 2014, at the historic Train Station at 20 South Washington Avenue (U.S. Route 11) in Pulaski. Every week will be an event. Not only will you be able to buy fresh local produce, but quality crafts will also be available. There will be music, tastings, chefs, artisans, educational experiences and a wide variety of other activities to make THE MARKETPLACE the place to be on Tuesday evenings.
The historic train station was built in 1888 by the Virginia-Tennessee Railroad just two years after the Commonwealth chartered the Town of Pulaski. It was crafted by master Italian stone masons from Peak Creek granite and is on The National Register of Historic Places. On November 17, 2008, the station was destroyed in a tragic fire. The Town completed a thorough historical restoration with the original stone walls still intact and the grand opening was June 11, 2011.
The lovely weather, variety of events, fresh local foods and quality crafts combined with the historic setting and small town atmosphere will make you want to make THE MARKETPLACE a regular part of your week during the season.
