After the sheriff is killed, the town demands a new sheriff from the Governor. Hedley convinces him to send the town the first Black sheriff in the west. Bart is a sophisticated urbanite who will have some difficulty winning over the townspeople.

McMurphy (Nicholson) has a criminal past and has once again gotten himself into trouble with the law. To escape labor duties in prison, McMurphy pleads insanity and is sent to a mental ward. Once here, McMurphy both endures and stands witness to the abuse and degradation of the oppressive Nurse Ratched (Fletcher), who gains superiority and power through the flaws of the other inmates. McMurphy and the other inmates band together to make a rebellious stance against the atrocious Nurse.

Friday, November 7th – First Friday Classic Movie – “Bonnie and Clyde”
This 1967 Biographical Crime Drama staring Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway, Gene Hackman and Michael J. Pollard is our November First Friday Movie. A bored small-town girl and a small-time bank robber leave in their wake a string of violent robberies and newspaper headlines that catch the imagination of the Depression-struck Mid-West in this take on the legendary crime spree of these archetypal lovers on the run.
Called one of the sixties’ most talked-about, volatile, controversial crime/gangster films combining comedy, terror, love, and ferocious violence. It’s a cross between a gangster film, tragic-romantic traditions, a road film and buddy film, and screwball comedy. It is rated PG-13 for violence and mild sexual content.

Doors open at 6:30pm.
The movie begins at 7pm.
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for kids 12 and under.

Friday, December 5th – First Friday Classic Movie – “White Christmas”
A 1954 American musical film directed by Michael Curtiz and starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, and Vera-Ellen, loosely based on the 1942 film Holiday Inn.   Filmed in Technicolor, White Christmas features the songs of Irving Berlin, including the title song, “White Christmas.” Produced and distributed by Paramount Pictures, the film is notable for being the first to be released in VistaVision, a wide-screen process developed by Paramount that entailed using twice the surface area of standard 35mm film.  This large-area negative was used to yield finer-grained standard-sized 35 mm film prints.  Rated G.

Doors open at 6:30pm.
The movie begins at 7pm.
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for kids 12 and under.
