The Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech offers five sets of tees ranging from championship length at 7,665 yards to 5,142 yards from the red tees. The use of multiple tee placements makes each hole a challenge for the finest players, yet thoroughly playable and enjoyable for the average golfer. Immaculate bentgrass fairways, tees and greens, strategically placed Dye trademark pot bunkers, and breathtaking vistas of the river from all 18 holes highlight this par 72 links design.
The course is a semi-private, daily fee facility open to the public and serves as home for the Virginia Tech championship golf team. Individual and family memberships are available as well as out-of-town memberships. Special corporate and group outings are also available. A new $5.5 million clubhouse construction project is underway and is scheduled to open in the summer of 2009. The new clubhouse will enhance the golfing experience and provide a premier event venue for university, corporate and private functions.
Pete Dye, world renowned architect, combined the natural beauty of the New River with his reputation of designing world-class golf courses that will hold your focus the entire round. The River Course continues to receive national recognition, a prestigious 4 1/2 Star Rating, and inclusion in Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play."
